
We are seeking applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a focus on organic chemistry to begin August 2026. We will consider candidates whose prior academic experience might qualify them for abbreviated time to tenure review. Candidates with experience at the interface of organic, bioorganic, and medicinal chemistry are also encouraged to apply. Duties include teaching chemistry lectures and laboratory courses at the undergraduate level, including organic chemistry; establishing an active research program that is suitable for involving undergraduates and that leads to publications and external support; and contributing service to the department, college, and discipline.

About the Department
SUNY Geneseo is a public liberal arts college with ~4,000 students located ~30mi south of Rochester, NY. The Chemistry & Biochemistry Department consists of 10 full-time faculty, 3 staff members, and ~150 total chemistry and biochemistry majors. The Department offers four degrees (including an ACS-certified BS in chemistry), supports multiple cross-disciplinary programs (neuroscience, biophysics, and geochemistry), and is a leader in developing innovative and inclusive teaching practices. The Department has a broad suite of modern instrumentation and is highly research active. Between 2019-2024, it obtained $2.6M in external funding, published 25 research articles with undergraduate collaborators, and was one of the leading producers of Chemistry PhD students among PUIs in the country.
