Sonya Bilocerkowycz

Sonya Bilocerkowycz is a National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellow and the author of On Our Way Home from the Revolution: Reflections on Ukraine (Mad Creek Books/Ohio State University Press), which was awarded the Gournay Prize for a debut essay collection. Her work has appeared in GuernicaNinth Letter, New York Review of BooksLit HubLos Angeles Review of BooksColorado ReviewThe Normal School, and elsewhere. She has served as a Fulbright Fellow in Belarus, an educational recruiter in the Republic of Georgia, and an instructor at Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv. She holds an MFA from The Ohio State University and joined the Geneseo faculty in 2019.  

 

At SUNY Geneseo, Bilocerkowycz teaches creative nonfiction, poetry, and introductory multi-genre writing courses. Courses include advanced nonfiction workshops on topics such as Speculative Nonfiction, Revision, The Lyric Essay, Researching the Self, and The American Essay, as well as an upcoming Ukrainian literature course (Spring 2023).
