Nurture and support your mental health with a FREE weekly yoga class on campus! Mindful Yoga for Mental Health is sponsored by the Health Promotion office and taught by the Associate Director of Counseling Services, Beth Cholette, PhD, RYT. As both a licensed clinical psychologist and a certified yoga teacher, Dr. Beth is trauma-informed, and she understands the mind-body connection.

This is a slower yoga class intended to help participants decrease stress and enhance overall wellbeing. We encourage faculty and staff to attend as a means to encourage students, to cultivate community, to support a sense of belonging, and to promote healthy wellbeing. Everyone is welcome, and no prior yoga experience is necessary - Dr. Beth is committed to offering accessible movement options for different bodies and abilities.

WHEN: Fridays, 12:30 - 1:30 pm
fall start date is September 5; no class September 19 or November 28
WHERE: Schrader Dance Studio

Welcome to Counseling Services! I’m a Graduate Trainee from SUNY Brockport. I’ve been a Registered Nurse for about 10 years, and I have experience working in pediatrics, home care, sleep medicine and college health! I’ve also been trained as a doula. These experiences have all provided me with a huge appreciation for the importance of mental health and all the ways it plays a role in our whole-body, whole-self wellness.

College is such a pivotal time in your life, and it’s an honor to be a part of your journey in whatever way I can. I approach counseling in a holistic way, tailoring my care to each person's individual needs, and I strive to create a space where any student will feel welcomed and valued.

Outside of work and school, I’m an avid reader! I love baking, cooking, weightlifting, spending time outdoors, basking in the sun, and hanging out with any dog I come across.

I am a graduate student from China studying Mental Health Counseling at the University of Rochester. I am honored to begin my practicum training at SUNY Geneseo.

I aim to create a safe, nonjudgmental, and inclusive space for each student. I focus on supporting individuals to explore their inner potential and personal needs through empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuine collaborative relationships. I am particularly concerned with the challenges of adolescents, college students, and young adults in the areas of depression, anxiety, academic stress, identity, and relationships. I am committed to helping them build psychological resilience and achieve self-growth.

In my free time, I enjoy skating, reading, and hanging out with friends. These activities help me release pressure and experience the happiness of life.

I look forward to meeting every student and supporting them in finding the most suitable path for their growth through listening, understanding, and exploring together.

Hello and welcome! My name is Taryn (she, hers) and I am a Registered Dietitian and Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics with over 10 years of experience in the field, specializing in helping clients heal their relationship with food and exercise.

I utilize a non-diet, weight inclusive approach to help clients make peace with their food and body and trust their internal cues. I operate from an all foods fit philosophy and incorporate principles of intuitive eating, mindful eating, and Health at Every Size in my work with clients. I have extensive experience working with eating disorders/disordered eating, sports nutrition, and medical nutrition therapy for many other health conditions. Previously, I have worked at all levels of care (residential, PHP, and IOP) for eating disorders. I also have experience working as a sports dietitian in collegiate athletics and with elite and professional athletes supporting their nutrition needs. It would be an honor to support and be part of your journey to creating a more peaceful relationship with food, your body, and exercise.

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Biology here at SUNY Geneseo, where I also ran cross country and track competitively for four years. I then completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics at the University of Connecticut and continued on to receive my Master of Science in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology from Oregon State University.

As a lifelong athlete myself, you might find me racing my bike in a road, cyclocross or gravel race. I also enjoy hiking, urban farming, home improvement projects and outdoor adventures with my yellow lab, Roswell (who sometimes can be found in the background of virtual sessions).

I am a three year old golden retriever who enjoys taking long naps in the middle of crowded rooms, tearing through forests at breakneck speeds, gently wading through streams, and socializing with anyone and everyone. I am beyond excited to meet you and will let you know by involving my whole body in greeting you. Sometimes, I just can’t help but vocalize through a goofy symphony of sounds how awesome it is to be here. I love you already and know we are going to be best friends. I’m very good at expressing how I feel and offering you unconditional positive regard. If you haven’t met me yet, what are you waiting for?

I hold office hours every week in the Lauderdale Health Center, and I am otherwise a part of counseling sessions with my human - where I’m content to sit with you on the couch or snuggle up by your feet if you’ll let me.
